| This website is meant to be a training tool for beginning umpires or for umpires who are interested in getting better. Experience comes with working games at each level and having someone tell you when it is time to move to another level. First, know the rules! Second, know how to apply the rules! Third,apply them with confidence. Never be unapproachable. Communication is always the way to handle difficult situations. The umpire has a very difficult job in that they are only going to satisfy 50% of the people on all close plays. The way an umpire sells the call goes along way toward convincing others that you made the right call. |
